The participants in Alien (Next of Kin) were sent the transcripts of their telephone descriptions and asked to copy them onto paper in their handwriting. Their hand-written descriptions or ‘portraits’ have been ‘drawn’ – as the head in the video was- in pencil onto large canvases. In the installation the canvases are displayed as screens, transforming the gallery space and taking the spectator through the different elements of the project.
